Kanye West hints at another run in the 2024 presidential election

Washington:

Rapper and fashion designer Kanye West has suggested that he will run for president in 2024 and wants Donald Trump to be his running mate.

The artist, who goes by the name Yeh, posted a rotating symbol on his Twitter account on Thursday with “Yeh” and the number 24, apparently representing 2024, the year of the next US presidential election.

The rapper then posted a video of himself speaking about his recent meeting with the former president in Florida.

Kanye West said, “I think the thing Trump was most upset about was asking me to be his vice president.”

Mr. West said, “Trump basically started yelling at me across the table, telling me I was going to lose.” “I’m like, Hold on Trump, you’re talking to Yeh.”

Donald Trump, who tried to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential election which he lost to Joe Biden, said on November 15 that he would seek re-election in 2024. Mr Trump’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The artist posted two days ago that he had visited Trump at his palatial Florida home, Mar-a-Lago.

“Can’t believe I made President Trump wait,” he posted on Twitter.

“What do you guys think his reaction was when I asked him to be my running mate in 2024?”

It was unclear whether the rapper was serious about his intentions – or if he sought the publicity following PR moves that cast him in a negative light.

Kanye West is a veteran at garnering publicity – and dabbling in politics. He ran for president in 2020, but received less than 70,000 votes, coming in seventh place.

Last month, German sportswear giant Adidas severed its lucrative alliance with Kanye West after the star made anti-Semitic statements.

Adidas later stated that the termination of the relationship with West had forced it to reduce its forecast of net income for 2022 by half. West helped Adidas develop the successful “Yeezy” line of clothing.

Paris fashion house Balanciaga and US clothing retailer Gap have also cut ties with West, who appeared at a Paris fashion show last month wearing a shirt emblazoned with the slogan “White Lives Matter”, a tribute to the Black Lives Matter racial equality movement. There was a reprimand for
