Karnataka: 18 arrested for dancing with sword during Milad-un-Nabi rally

KarnatakaPolice said on Tuesday that they have arrested 18 youths while carrying swords in their hands and playing the speech of All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

City’s Siddapura police registered a case on its own after the video of youths showing swords and guns went viral. “On the evening of October 9, some people were dancing with knives and knives. Under this, a case has been registered against him under the Arms Act. Around 20 to 25 people were arrested. Of them we got 18, out of which 13 were minors.”

He said minors would be treated under the Juvenile Justice Act while others would be tried under the Indian Penal Code. According to the DCP, these people went to an interior area after a procession where they danced. Krishnakant said he would investigate where slogans like ‘Sir tan se juda’ were raised. The official said this is not the first time that cases have been registered. Earlier also, action was taken on receiving information about similar incidents during Ganesh procession.
