Karnataka BJP MLA on party worker’s murder says will resign if state doesn’t act

Hours after a BJP youth worker was killed by motorcycle-borne assailants in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday night, state BJP legislator MP Renukacharya said he would resign if the state did not take action against the attackers.

“If our government does not take strict action against the miscreants responsible for the killings of Hindu activists, then I am ready to resign from the post of MLA,” he said.

BJP Yuva Morcha worker Praveen Nettaru, owner of a chicken shop in Bellare village of Sulia taluk of Dakshina Kannada, was murdered around 9.30 pm.

Referring to the Uttar Pradesh government’s ‘bulldozer justice’, the MLA said, ‘If our government takes strict action against miscreants on the model of Yogi Adityanath’s government, then only our government and organization can remain charismatic.

He said the killings of Hindu activists in the state have increased time and again.

“What’s the use of being in power if we can’t protect our Hindu workers?” BJP MLA asked.

He said, “Every time a Hindu activist is killed, it is posted on social media with heartfelt tributes, demanding strict action, hanging the criminals, and expressing condolences. But They are of no use.”

“If the state government wants to restore the faith of Hindu workers, it should punish the miscreants,” he said.

Basavaraj Bommai, advisor to the CM, said the safety of Hindu workers is a priority for him.

“So if our government does not take strict action against the miscreants, then I am thinking of resigning from the post of MLA after discussing with the leaders and workers of my constituency,” he said.

The BJP leader said he was embarrassed as the police had not traced those who had threatened to kill him a few days ago.

“What people want is not our speech or statement, but the decisive action we take,” he said.

He said, ‘I repeat that I will be in this government only when strict action is taken against the miscreants.’
