Karnataka CM’s “Half-Kilometer” When Sonia Gandhi Joins Mega ‘Bharat Jodi’ March

Sonia Gandhi joins Congress’s mega ‘Bharat Jodi’ Yatra in Karnataka today.

Bangalore:

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said “she walked and walked for half a kilometer”, apparently trying to downplay Sonia Gandhi’s participation in the Congress’s mega ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ in Karnataka today.

He also said that the yatra, which is currently passing through the election state of Karnataka, will not have any impact in the state.

Asked about the “impact” of the yatra, Mr Bommai told reporters here, “Naturally all party leaders will work for their party, she (Sonia Gandhi) walked half a kilometer and left, that is fine.”

“As far as we are concerned, we have nothing to do with it and it has no effect,” he said.

The chief minister rubbished claims that the ruling BJP was planning rallies and state-wide tours of its leaders to counter the Congress’s visit, saying they were planned long in advance.

“As I said earlier that there will be six rallies, it will be a part of that… We had planned it earlier, but because of the assembly session, we decided to do it after Dussehra,” he said.

Sonia Gandhi Joined the yatra at Pandavpura in Mandya district today, attended a public function of the party after a long gap.
