A day before the results of the Karnataka Assembly elections are out, glimpses of the political vote count are out in the open. These hints come a day before HD Kumaraswamy’s Janata Dal (Secmi) results are out. JDS rejected Tanveer Ahmed’s statement that he has decided what will be the stand of the party when it comes to the position of kingmaker.
Resigning JDS state chief Ibrahim said, “He (Tanveer Ahmed) is not our spokesperson. He is not a member of our party. He is nothing. He left us long back. We (on the alliance) did something.” We haven’t decided. We’ll wait a bit.”
Tanveer Ahmed on Thursday claimed that there were indications of an alliance with both JDS Congress and BJP as most exit polls predicted a hung assembly in Karnataka. In such a situation, JDS has been decided.
Tanveer Ahmed had claimed, “Kumaraswamy will leave Singapore. He said the decision has been taken. When the right time comes, we will announce it to the public.”
At the same time, the Congress said on Friday that now it also guarantees to form the government on its own. The BJP has also denied having any contact with the JD-S. BJP says that the party will get a clear mandate. The results of the election are due on Saturday, but several exit polls have predicted that the Congress’ lead in Karnataka could widen.
Many political informers believe that in the event of a hung assembly, the JDS government of former PM HD Deve Gowda and his son HD Kumaraswamy may play the role of king or kingmaker.
