As the grand old party brainstorms on the CM face for the state, Shivakumar talks about his work, patience and sacrifices through his political journey with the Congress.
A day after the Congress’ victory in the Karnataka elections, the party’s state unit president DK Shivakumar on Sunday spoke about his intention to become the Chief Minister and said that he has “sacrificed many times for the party”.
As the grand old party brainstorms on the CM face for the state, Shivakumar talks about his work, patience and sacrifices through his political journey with the Congress.
Talking to reporters in Tumkur, Shivakumar said, ‘Many times I have made sacrifices for the party. I sacrificed and helped and stood by Siddaramaiah. Was I not patient when I was not made a minister in the beginning? I have supported Siddaramaiah.” ANI informed of.
Shivakumar also dismissed speculations of differences between him and former chief minister Siddaramaiah, who is the other contender for the chief minister’s post.
“…some people say that there are differences between me and Siddaramaiah, but I want to make it clear that there is no difference between us,” he said.

Shivakumar was visiting the Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkur, a religious center for the Lingayat community, which played a key role in the Congress’ Karnataka victory.
Shivakumar also said that the Congress and the legislature party would decide the next chief minister of Karnataka.
Shivakumar recalled his work for the party when Siddaramaiah and Dinesh Gundu Rao resigned as Congress Legislature Party president and state unit chief, respectively, following the party’s defeat in the 2019 bypolls. The then national president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, had resigned. Believed him and made him the President.
“I had done nothing wrong for myself. Whatever I did, I did for the party. All my sufferings were for the party,” he said.
He also talked about his time in jail in a money laundering case and how Sonia Gandhi came to support him and got emotional after the remark.

Both the leaders are leaving no stone unturned to garner support for their candidature among the newly elected MLAs.
Ahead of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, where AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC observers, Karnataka Congress office-bearers and elected legislators will sit to take the final call, Kharge called on the Gandhi family to discuss the crucial decision and come out victorious. The Congress won the Karnataka Assembly elections with a thumping majority by winning 135 out of 224 seats, while the ruling BJP could win only 66 seats.
