Days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the border dispute with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the opposition in Maharashtra demanded that the discussion should be made public. Tension has increased between the two states over the old demand.
Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar said, “Conversations of Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Maharashtra with Union HM Amit Shah should be made public. If the state government brings a resolution on border issues, we will support it.”
He further said that it has been an old demand to connect the border areas with Maharashtra.
Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Ajit Pawar said, “It is our old demand that Belagavi, Nipani, Karwar and other border areas should be integrated with Maharashtra.”
Meanwhile, Shah, who recently chaired a meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over the matter, suggested that the two states not lay any claim against each other till the Supreme Court decides. Can’t hear
“The meeting between Maharashtra and Karnataka on the border issue was held in a positive atmosphere today,” Shah said.
“Until the Supreme Court gives a verdict in this matter, neither of the two states shall lay any claim on each other. Three ministers from both sides will meet and discuss the issue. The ministers will discuss other issues pending between the two states Will solve that too.” ” He said.
He also urged the opposition parties of both the states not to “politicise” the issue.
“I urge the opposition parties of both Maharashtra and Karnataka not to politicize this issue. We should wait for the outcome of the discussion of the committee constituted to resolve this issue and the decision of the Supreme Court. I am sure the NCP , Congress, and the Uddhav Thackeray group will cooperate,” he said.
The Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute will be discussed in the Maharashtra Assembly starting tomorrow. Referring to this, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that a resolution related to this will be passed in the winter session.
“We will pass a resolution related to the Karnataka-Maharashtra border line in the winter session of the state assembly. CM Eknath Shinde will move the resolution in the assembly,” Fadnavis said.
