Karnataka Yakshagana Academy selects Kinnale Vasant Bharadwaj for Parthi Subba Award

Karnataka Yakshagana Akademi has selected writer Kabinale Vasant Bharadwaj for the prestigious Parthi Subba Award for 2021. The award comes with a ₹1 lakh cash prize, a certificate, a citation, a garland and a peta.

The Academy has shortlisted five people for the 2021 Honorary Award. They are Satyanarayana Hasayagara, Muttappa Taniya Pujari, Narendra Kumar Jain, Moodalgiriyappa and NT Moorthacharya. The award carries a ₹50,000 cash prize, a certificate, a citation, a shawl with a garland and a peta.

The Academy said its annual Yaksha Siri Award for 2021 will be presented to 10 individuals. They are Haldi Jayaram Shetty, Gopal Ganiga Ajri, Bolar Subbaiah Shetty, Sethuru Ananthapadmanabha Rao, Kadthoka Laxminarayan Shambhu Bhagwat, Ram Salian Mangalapadi, Kokkada Ishwar Bhat, Adigona Bhiranna Naik, Bhadraiya and Basavarajappa. The award carries a ₹25,000 cash prize, a certificate, a garland and a peta.

The Academy has selected two books for its Book Awards for 2020. they are economy vehicle Written by K Ramanand Banari and moodalpay yakshagana Written by HR Chetna. The award carries a ₹25,000 cash prize, a certificate, a garland and a peta.

The artists for the awards were selected at the Academy’s Annual General Meeting held at Sirsi on 20 February 2022.

All the awards will be presented at a function to be held at Karkala in Udupi district in the last week of March. A booklet containing the profiles of the artists selected for the awards will be released on the occasion.
