NEET 2021: Tufail, a resident of Mulnar Harwan village in Srinagar, had to go to a nearby city to get internet access to download YouTube videos on his mobile phone.

Overcoming all the hurdles that come in his way, Tufail Ahmed from Srinagar has become the first tribal from J&K to have qualified for the post. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Due to lack of coaching facilities, he prepared for NEET by watching YouTube videos on his mobile phone, but that too was not easily available. Tufail, a resident of Mulnar Harwan village in Srinagar, had to go to a nearby town to access the internet to download YouTube videos on his mobile phone.
“We do not have proper power supply and mobile connectivity is limited. So I used to go to the nearest city to access the internet and download the video and come back later to study it,” the NEET qualifier was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
With no transport facilities to his village, young Tufail had to travel more than two kilometers a day to get to a government school. Tufail said that once he becomes a doctor, he wants to serve the local people of his village, who have to travel many kilometers for medical help.
Tufail’s visit will surely inspire thousands of local Kashmiri youth to achieve great things in life.
Encouraging the youth to take an active part in the study of medicine has also been part of the government and the Indian Army’s plan to bring the Valley back to normal.
Army had started the Army HPCL Kashmir Super 50 initiative to provide free coaching to the students of North Kashmir region to prepare for the medical examination. In this initiative 50 meritorious students from the region have been selected on the basis of written examination. The initiative was launched in 2018 with 30 students out of which 25 managed to qualify for NEET. Later the number was increased to 50 to ensure greater participation of girl students. Presently 30 boys and 20 girls from North Kashmir region are part of this Army sponsored training program for medical aspirants.
