Kaziranga National Park: The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, was reopened for tourists for the 2022-23 season on Sunday (October 2).

A general notice issued by Ramesh Kumar Gogoi, Divisional Forest Officer, Eastern Assam Wildlife Division at Bokakhat, said that at present the park has been partially opened for jeep safaris only in two ranges- Kaziranga Range, Kohora and Western Range at Bagori. roads due to bad weather conditions.

“At present, tourists are allowed to travel via Donga Tower under Western Range, Bagori to Bimoli Tiniali and Mihimukh via Duphalang Tower up to Vaichamari Junction in Kaziranga Range, Kohora,” the DFO said in the notice. Said in the notice.

On 22 September, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Sadhguru Vasudev opened the Kaziranga National Park for tourists for the season. Chief Minister Sarma along with Vasudev also unveiled three rhinoceros statues at Mihimukh in Kaziranga that day.

These statues of rhinoceros are made using the ashes collected from burning rhino horns. It may be noted that on September 22 last year, the Assam government created history when 2,479 rhino horns were set on flames to send a strong message to poachers and illegal horn traders that rhino The horns have no medicinal value.

The rhinoceros statues thus created are an attempt to immortalize the efforts and dedication of those who selflessly protect the pride of Assam, the great one-horned rhinoceros.
