The Kedarnath Yatra was suspended on May 23 amid heavy rains and pilgrims were stopped at various places between Gaurikund and Kedarnath, an official said.
He said that in view of the Kedarnath deluge tragedy of 2013, the Rudraprayag district administration appealed to the pilgrims to stay at their respective stations till the weather improves.
Rudraprayag District Magistrate said that those who had worshiped at Lord Shiva’s temple in Kedarnath on the morning of May 23 were stopped from starting their return journey.
Similarly, people ready to go to Kedarnath from the base camp Gaurikund were stopped from traveling further, he said.
He said that the district administration is taking all possible precautions so that no untoward incident happens.
