Kerala government has decided to impose special strict strict lockdown Restrictions in urban and panchayat wards where the significant prevalence of weekly infection population ratio (WIPR) is above 10.
According to an order issued on Saturday, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will notify such areas every week and give adequate publicity about it through various means.
The order said, “Special intensive stringent lockdown restrictions will be implemented in urban and panchayat wards with significant spread of WIPR above 10. DDMA will notify such areas on a weekly basis and give adequate publicity through websites and other media.” ”
“The District Collectors will further notify the micro containment zones and enforce lockdown restrictions in them as per the extant guidelines,” it said.
The government further said that classes in colleges, including vocational colleges, can resume from October 4 in compliance with all COVID safety protocols.
The college authorities need to ensure that all students and staff have taken at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine two weeks before their attendance or have tested COVID-19 positive at least one month prior to their attendance.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government has also given permission to reopen schools from November 1.

There are 2,507 wards in 678 local self-government bodies in the state with a weekly transition population ratio of more than 8%.
