Kerala Governor’s actions RSS attempt to destabilize government: CPI(M)

CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan had earlier alleged that the governor was a sympathizer of the RSS.

Thiruvananthapuram:

Communist Party of India (Marxist) chief secretary MV Govindan on Sunday alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was trying to destabilize the state government.

Addressing a press briefing here on Sunday, Mr. Govindan said, “RSS was trying to destabilize the state government and the governor’s latest move on universities is part of it.”

Mr Govindan further said that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was sitting on the bills for a long time and it was creating uncertainty.

“Government has sought legal opinion on the Governor’s sitting on various Bills and his efforts to oust most of the Vice Chancellors in the State. The Governor is not allowed to keep the Bills for long. We will go to any extent to fight. This uncertainty,” he said.

He said the party along with other Left parties will hold a massive protest in front of the Raj Bhavan on November 15.

“MP Tiruchi Siva will take part in the protest. Party general secretary Sitaram Yechury will inaugurate the protest on November 15,” he said.

Earlier, on October 26, the CPI(M) had taken out a protest march against the state governor Arif Mohammad Khan to the general post office in Thiruvananthapuram, demanding the resignation of the vice-chancellors of nine state universities.

The Governor demanded the resignation of the Vice Chancellors of Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Kannur University, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Sri Shankaracharya Sanskrit University, Calicut University. and Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University.

The CPI(M) state secretary had earlier alleged that the governor was a sympathizer of the RSS.

“The governor was appointed as the Chancellor according to law and if the law is invalid, there will be neither a chancellor nor a governor. It is a shame that the governor thinks he has the power of a king and that whatever He’s doing it right,” said Mr. Govindan had said.
