Kerala launches new version of Harmony Hindi, aims to make learning Hindi easier

To attract more students to learn Hindi, the Kerala government on Monday launched a new version of ‘Sureli Hindi’.

State Education Minister V Shivankutty, who inaugurated the program, said, “The project is being implemented by Samagra Shiksha Kerala. The new version of ‘Surly Hindi’ includes animations, puppetry and picture transitions to make Hindi learning more engaging. Techniques will be involved. For the students.”

This year, the activities are designed for children from classes 5 to 12. Modules include stories, poems and plays.

The first version of the ‘Sureli Hindi’ project was launched in the academic year 2016-17 with an aim to improve Hindi learning in all upper primary schools. In the 2018-19 academic year, the project focused on students from classes 5 to 8.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when education switched to online mode, more digital content was encouraged to learn Hindi.

“Through the ‘Sureli Hindi 2020’ project, digital video content was developed by composing selected poems and distributed to children from classes 5 to 8 through WhatsApp groups of the respective grades,” an official said.
