Where the BMW i4 is available in a single eDrive 40 variant, priced at Rs 69.90 lakh, the Kia EV6 is offered in two variants – GT Line with RWD configuration, and GT Line with AWD, priced at Rs 59.95 lakh and Rs 64.95 lakh. lakh is Rs. Prices, ex-showroom) respectively.
Powertrain and performance
The EV6 RWD gets a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 229 PS and 350 Nm, while the dual-motor AWD variant makes 325 PS of maximum power and 605 Nm of peak torque. Kia claims that the all-wheel drive version can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.2 seconds.
In contrast, the BMW i4 gets a single rear axle-mounted electric motor that produces 340 PS and 430 Nm, and has a claimed 0 to 100 kmph time of 5.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 190 kmph.
Battery pack, charging time and range
Both the RWD and AWD variants of the Kia EV6 pack the same 77.4 kWh battery pack. The company claims that the earlier range is 528 km according to the WLTP cycle. A 350 kW DC fast charger will charge the battery to 10-80% in just 18 minutes, while a 50 kW charger will take 73 minutes for the same level.
The i4 is equipped with a slightly larger 80.7 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 590 km (WLTP cycles), which is still the highest for any electric vehicle in India. With a 205 kW DC fast charger, the i4’s battery can be boosted from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes.
