Kia renames UVO Connect to Kia Connect

Kia Connect Live Services offers a wide range of services that bring together data in multiple ways.

Kia has rebranded its telematics and connected car suite to Kia Connect. Previously it was called UVO Connect. The Kia Connect platform includes connectivity features, high-end tech features such as navigation, traffic prediction and telematics and analytics. It will first be rolled out to Kia’s European cars.

“By renaming our on-board and app-based telematics system to Kia Connect, we are making it clear to customers that its features are meant to provide a seamless connection between owner, vehicle and environment. The benefits of Kia Connect By picking up a comprehensive suite of technology, customers can expect a stress-free journey like never before,” said Jason Jeong, President of Kia Europe and Kia Connect.

There is an online navigation function that provides historical traffic data to information from the cloud in real time allowing the car to predict traffic. Kia Connect Live Services is a wide range of services that bring together data in multiple ways. So information from traffic providers, parking availability, parking cost, location, pricing at fuel stations or EV charging points, weather forecast, online point of interest search, and speed camera location.

It also allows the user to access the vehicle remotely through a smartphone. Users can view travel data and statistics about driving behavior and vehicle status. EV owners can also check the charging status. Other features include the usual constellation of connected car features such as remote activation of the climate control system, remote unlock and lock, and Bluetooth and infotainment preferences.

The UVO Connect app also comes with pre-existing last mile navigation and valet parking mode functions. Kia Connect also takes advantage of augmented reality through services like Google Maps or even monitors where their driver or attendant has taken the car. The Kia Connect platform will be rolled out to European vehicles and the new app will be released on the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iPhone in the coming months.
