The Kia Sonnet has completed one year of sales in India and to commemorate the same, the automaker has launched the Sonnet First Anniversary Edition. Kia says the limited edition model is inspired by the aurochs, a large wild Eurasian bull. The model gets new front and rear skid plates with tangerine accents that are inspired by the aurochs. Tangerine accents extend to the grille and center wheel cap, while the model gets new side skid plates, door garnish and the anniversary edition emblem.

Speaking at the launch, Tae-Jin Park, Managing Director and CEO, kia india said, “Sonet has been one of our breakthrough products which has contributed to the success of Kia in India. With over one lakh units sold in less than a year, Sonet has established itself as India’s best-selling product. To celebrate this adoration, we are excited to launch the Anniversary Edition of the Sonnet. Crafted from sheer design excellence, the Anniversary Edition Sonnet builds on the concept of Aurochs. based and boasts a muscular look providing a bold and premium driving experience for us young hearted customers.”

The Kia Sonnet First Anniversary Edition is available with both the 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel.

This includes a 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol with 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. There are no mechanical changes and the car continues to come with specifications while the feature list remains the same. Kia has not confirmed how many units of the limited edition will actually be produced. The Sonnet Anniversary Edition will be available in four colors – Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, Steel Silver and Gravity Grey.

Sonet was a blockbuster offering right from its launch and has done well for the automaker. Kia sold over one lakh units of the Sonet within a year and the pace of sales doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The new anniversary edition will further attract the buyers of the car.
