Superstars Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar, Kriti Sanon, Huma Qureshi, Vidya Balan, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari and Divya Dutta made a statement this year in sarees that celebrated the Indian silhouette with gusto.
From Manish Malhotra to Abu Jani to Sandeep Khosla, the six yards of grandeur oozed glamor and spiciness on the red carpet. Here’s a look at some stylish sarees that will be a great addition to your summer wardrobe this wedding season.
Kiara Advani
Kiara Advani didn’t win hearts with the ‘Star of the Year’ award, the Shershaah star ruled the red carpet in a lime green Taban saree by Manish Malhotra. Kiara, who graced Manish Malhotra for all her wedding celebrations, chose the renowned fashion designer’s exquisite sari to make her first red-carpet appearance as Mrs Malhotra. The intricate beadwork designed on the saree border added vibrancy to the subtle colour. She paired the saree with a sleeveless sparkly blouse.
Bhumi Pednekar
Bhumi Pednekar is not only breaking stereotypes with her stellar acting skills, but has also been upping her style quotient in recent times. The Jury Choice ‘Breakthrough Performance of the Year’ star made a stylish entrance on the red carpet in a white saree designed by Abu Sandeep Asal. The saree, which was from the designer duo’s Devdas Mirror collection, featured striking mirror embroidery in abstract chevron motifs, highlighted with gold Vasali threads. She completed her look with a glamorous and dramatic floor-length organza cape.

The princess of the film industry, Kriti Sanon slayed the red carpet in a Seema Gujral saree. Her big win for ‘Popular Choice Best Actress’ for Mimi included a jeweled white saree. Made of the softest tulle, the sari was embroidered with pearls and crystals in the drape. She paired this shimmery number with a full-sleeved blouse.
Huma Qureshi
Bold, edgy and chic define Huma’s style at its best! The Maharani actor grabbed all the attention on the red carpet as she walked in a Punit Kapoor drape saree. The unconventional silhouette featured a velvet center slit skirt draped with dori work and sequins. She paired the exquisite drape with a corset-style blouse that complemented her curves.
Vidya balan
The OG queen of sarees and definitely the OG reel queen, Vidya Balan looked magical in a black saree as she received the ‘Jury’s Choice Best Actress’ award for Jalsa. Sarees have always been Vidya’s favorite style be it red carpet events or her entertaining reels on Instagram, the actress has draped like a superstar.
Ashwini Iyer Tiwari
Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who was one of the prestigious jury members of News18 Shosha Reels Awards, took a trip down memory lane and walked the red carpet in a beautiful off-white cream silk saree. About the traditional drape that graced the red carpet, she wrote, “When I saw this beautiful off-white cream saree, simple as it was, I tried to remember where I had bought this beauty. Remembering my trip, I had visited Tanjore and bought this in one of the small shops, two women buying wholesale sarees for wedding, bargaining with a smiling old owner, who has seen all this.
Divya Dutta
Walking with the ‘popular choice Best Performance in a Negative Role’ for Dhaakad, Divya Dutta graced the award ceremony in a gold and gray silk printed saree. The traditional drape complemented the star’s tee and we love how she kept her look understated. The saree sheen added just the right amount of sparkle to her overall desi look.
