Kolkata building damaged in mysterious blast

Although no one was injured in the blast, a portion of the building’s asbestos roof and a boundary wall were damaged.

A building in Kolkata’s Tangra area was partially damaged in a mysterious explosion on Monday, August 30, 2021, a police officer said.

Although no one was injured in the blast, a portion of the building’s asbestos roof and a boundary wall were damaged.

Tangra police station personnel and a forensic team reached the spot and found that the gas cylinder was “intact” and that the “explosion” was caused by something else.

“We are unsure about the explosion. But it could be due to vapor cloud explosions. We are investigating the matter,” he said.

Vapor cloud explosion occurs when a substantial amount of flammable material is released, mixes with air, and ignites.
