Lakhimpur Kheri case: Ashish Mishra reaches crime branch office

Ashish Mishra, son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, reached Crime Branch Office, Lakhimpurin today in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on October 3, in which eight people including four farmers were killed.

He was earlier summoned by the Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the investigation of the case.

Earlier on Friday, Ajay Mishra Teni had said that his son was unable to report to the police due to health reasons.

After two people were arrested in the case on Thursday, police had pasted a notice outside Ashish Mishra’s house, asking him to appear before it in connection with the violence that claimed eight lives.

Four of the eight people killed in Sunday’s violence were farmers who were allegedly hit by a vehicle carrying BJP workers. Following this, the enraged farmers allegedly thrashed some people in the vehicles to death.

The other dead include two BJP workers and their driver.

The farmers claimed that Ashish Mishra was in one of the vehicles, a charge denied by him and his father, who say they can produce evidence to prove that he was at an event at the time.
