Lakhimpur Kheri Violence Case: Investigation Can’t Be An Endless Story, Supreme Court Tells UP Govt. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Supreme court asked on wednesday answer The state government will file an updated status report in the matter related to the violence on October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri on 27 October.
UP government submitted sealed cover affidavit in Supreme Court and told that it has arrested 10 accused in this connection Lakhimpur Cucumber incident.
A bench headed by CJI NV Ramana was told that the police have also registered an FIR for lynching of three people by protesting farmers.
“The investigation cannot be an endless story and the state should dispel the idea that the police is dragging its feet about the investigation,” the Supreme Court said.
Statements of four out of 44 witnesses have been recorded by judicial magistrate in Lakhimpur Kheri matter,” the UP government informed the Supreme Court.
The top court further asked the UP government to record the statements of the remaining witnesses of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident before the judicial magistrate.
The Supreme Court had on October 8 expressed dissatisfaction over the steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government in the killing of eight people.
So far, ten people, including Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home and BJP MP Ajay Kumar Mishra ‘Theni’, have been arrested in this case.
The top court had said that it is “not satisfied” with the action taken by the Uttar Pradesh government in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and also questioned the state as to why accused Ashish Mishra has not been arrested so far.
Ashish Mishra had allegedly crushed the farmers with his car.
