Lakme Fashion Week: Day 1 on digital finale, see pics

The first day of Lakme Fashion Week in association with FDCI ended with all things digital. Fashion Week celebrated fashion on film and saw an array of creative presentations throughout the day. From happy videos of models swaying in vibrant outfits to expressing love through timeless outfits, the first day was well worth the screen time.

Actor Mrunal Thakur turned music for JJ Valaya’s digital showcase at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week, Day 1 finale show. Inspired by the Ottomans and the Balkans, the Rumeli Utsav collection featured timeless embroidery, rich fabrics, intricate details and exquisite prints. The show also marked the return of JJ Valaya at the Lakme Fashion Week after a decade.
Paras and Shalini’s Geisha designs were all about celebrating freedom and starting anew. Titled ‘New Beginnings’, the collection showcases contemporary silhouettes in dazzling silk and satin fabrics. While embroidery was the star, the collection also featured ruffles, frills and 3D applique work.
Combining ethnic wear with minimalist yet fashion-forward designs, the Arpita Mehta bridal line captured the heart of weddings in this new normal. Made in exquisite shades of dusty pink, mint, fuchsia and red, the silhouette was designed keeping the modern Indian woman in mind.
Embracing the new “you” with bright, bold, and happy hair and makeup looks, Lakme Salon x Chola by Sohaya Mishra was a celebration of free-spirited styles. Easy separates, deconstructed styles and flowy silhouettes in saturated colors like yellow, green, pinks etc were complemented with edgy pixie cuts for low-maintenance long bobs and funky braids.
The INIFD Next Gen Stars Deepit Chugh and Twinkle Hanspal related collections were a breath of fresh air. From stylish menswear pieces by Deepit taking center stage in Twinkle’s collection, each ensemble is brought to life in their respective digital showcase.
Fashion designer Ananya Modi Jain was declared the winner for the NBA 75 collection. His creation gave basketball culture a little pizzazz with a zingy look. The embellishments were inspired by the court’s design, net, ball, and NBA logo that projected a new streetwear vibe.
Limerick by Abir & Nanaki made its debut at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week with the SS’22 collection, Back to the Stars. The collection worked around the 12 zodiac signs and was presented in four elements – air, water, fire and earth which colors matched the story.
