The films also faced criticism for the previous controversial statements of Aamir and Akshay. Netizens trended #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha and #BoycottRakshaBandhan on Twitter.
Both the films saw a big drop in the box office numbers on the second day. According to the report of BoxofficeIndia, Aamir’s film is seeing a decline of 40 percent and the collection is estimated to be around Rs 6.50-7 crore. The total collection of the film will be Rs 18-18.50 crore in two days. The film had earned Rs 11.50 crore on the first day. The report further states that the film has performed poorly in the mass markets.
Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also stars Naga Chaitanya Mona Singh in important roles. The film is an official remake of the Academy Award winning Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks.
Meanwhile, during the promotion of the film, Aamir, while addressing the ‘Boycott’ trend on Twitter, had said, ‘If I have hurt anyone in any way, I am sorry. I don’t want to hurt anybody. ‘Don’t want to watch the film, I respect his sentiments. However, I do love for people to watch the film because it is our labor of love. A lot of people have worked hard on this film, and I hope people like it.”
