The government has finalised the schedule to compensate property owners affected by the Phase 2 metro rail works in the Old City, clearing the way for the project’s commencement.

Starting Monday, compensation cheques will be distributed to around 40 affected property owners at a special function. The event will be attended by Transport and BC Welfare Minister as well as Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, informed Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. So far, 169 owners have submitted their consent letters and ownership verification has been satisfactorily completed for over 40 of these properties. Mr. Durishetty has already determined a negotiated rate of ₹81,000 per square yard as consent award for affected properties, said Mr. Reddy.

In addition, as per the Relief and Rehabilitation Act, eligible property owners will also be provided rehabilitation compensation and reimbursement for dismantled structures. He emphasised that all compensations are being disbursed as per the Land Acquisition Act and based on the district collector’s decisions.

The MD has reiterated that the speedy land land acquisition and distribution of compensation amounts to the affected property owners is being carried as per the instructions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to expedite metro rail works in the section and the second phase as a whole.
