The Swift, made in India and Japan, achieved zero stars with two airbags as standard. The popular compact car achieved 15.53% in the adult occupant box, 0% in the child occupant box, 66.07% in the pedestrian safety and vulnerable road users box and 6.98% in the safety assist box. The result is valid for hatchback and sedan versions.
The result of zero stars is explained by poor side impact protection and an open door during testing, the low whiplash score proved for the rear impact test due to the lack of UN32, the lack of a standard side head protection airbag, the lack of standard ESC Shortcomings and Decisions Suzuki did not recommend the CRS for testing. This model will not pass regulation UN95 requirements because of the door opening.
The Swift is sold in Europe with 6 airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard, while the model in Latin America is not offered with side body and head airbags and ESC standard. The Latin American version of the Swift still offers the standard lap belt in the rear center seating position, despite the known high injury risks of its use.
Made in Latin America and Romania with double airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard, the Duster achieved Zero Star under the latest Latin NCAP protocol. The popular SUV achieved 29.47% in the adult occupant box, 22.93% in the child occupant box, 50.79% in the pedestrian safety and vulnerable road users box and 34.88% in the safety assist box.
The new Duster for Latin America does not offer side body and side head protection airbags as standard like the models sold under the Dacia brand in Europe. In frontal impact the model showed unstable structure performance and fuel leakage.
The side impact test showed more intrusion of the B-pillar and an open door during the test. The door opening in the Latin NCAP side impact test, which has the same configuration as Regulation UN95, means the car may have failed the UN95 test.
A fuel leak recorded in a frontal crash test requires further action from Renault, not only to resolve the problem in production, but to recall all units sold in the market that could potentially result in an accident. The problem is with the tank. Opening the door in a side impact in the same line requires immediate action by Renault as it poses a serious risk of ejection in case of a side impact.
