Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on September 2 that the law would take its course in the sexual assault case registered against Brihan Math saint Shivamurthy Murugh Sharanaru, who was arrested in Chitradurga on September 1.

Speaking to reporters at the Mangaluru International Airport when Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the city to attend an official event, the Chief Minister said the police have been given full freedom to investigate the matter and are doing their duty. He said that it is not appropriate to speak more on the matter at this time.

Mr Bommai said the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of eight projects worth Rs 3,000 crore in Mangaluru on Friday, which will further boost economic activities and boost development in the state’s coastal region. They will further enhance the cargo handling capacity of New Mangaluru Port and other ports, improve port business and create more employment activities.

He said that the Central Government has sanctioned 100 boats to Karnataka for deep sea fishing under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. PM Modi has also extended Kisan Credit Card for fishermen.

“The Prime Minister will further strengthen the development of the coastal region by inaugurating and dedicating eight projects on Friday,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr Bommai said that BJP’s ‘Janotsav’ program will be held on September 8 at Doddaballapura. BJP national president JP Nadda will participate in it, he said.
