LDF govt.’s 4th anniversary celebrations riddled with corruption, alleges Chennithala

Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday (April 29, 2025) alleged corruption in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s fourth anniversary celebrations.

“The ₹100-crore splurge on the celebrations is being divided among those close to the government. The government has no money to alleviate the burden of the common man, but is spending crores on its fourth anniversary celebrations,” he said here.

Mr. Chennithala criticised the government for not inviting Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan to the commissioning of the Vizhinjam port. “If the government claimed that he was not invited as the programme was part of its celebrations, how did they invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the event. It showed the collusion between the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the BJP,” he alleged.

He claimed that the Vizhinjam project was initiated by the UDF government led by then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. “Pinarayi Vijayan had opposed the project then,” he said.
