In others, Arsenal face Brighton, Nottingham Forest face Tottenham, Wolves host Leeds, while Everton travel to Bournemouth.
Big spenders Newcastle suffered a setback when they came down with a goal to beat fourth-leg Tranmere 2-1 in the second round of the League Cup on Wednesday.
Leeds knocked out third division Barnsley 3–1, with Colombian international Louis Sinister scoring his first goal for a Premier League side since a £22.5m move from Feyenoord.
Brighton won 3–0 at third-tier Forest Green, while Bristol City claimed a 3–1 victory at Wycombe.
