Coimbatore: Forest department officials on Thursday caught a male leopard after darting it with a sedative at Ammapalayam near Thirumuruganpondi municipality in Tiruppur district.

The leopard was sighted in Pappankulam village where the leopard attacked two people. It was hidden inside a maize field in the village and the forest department had kept two cages to catch the leopard. However, it attacked APW Manikandan and managed to escape from the area on Tuesday. The same leopard was spotted in Perumanallur area on Tuesday night and the forest department deployed over 70 personnel and installed 20 camera traps to keep an eye on the movement of wild animals.
