Officials of APCO and Lepakshi exchanging copies of MoU in the presence of Special Chief Secretary, Handloom and Textiles R.P. Sisodia on Friday.
The Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (Lepakshi) and Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Limited (APCO) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the rich cultural heritage of the State.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Special Chief Secretary, Department of Handlooms and Textiles, R. P. Sisodia and officials of the APCO and Lepakshi. As part of the collaboration, both the organisations will showcase and sell each other’s premium handloom and handicraft products at their respective showrooms to improve market visibility for artisans and weavers, while providing customers with a diverse and enriched shopping experience.
Mr. Sisodia said that this collaboration was not a mere commercial arrangement, but a vital step in preserving the identity of Andhra Pradesh’s artisans and their invaluable contributions to the State’s culture.
“By joining hands, we are amplifying the voices of our weavers and craftsmen, ensuring their livelihoods, and creating a sustainable ecosystem for traditional arts to thrive,” he said.
APCO Managing Director Vishwa Manoharan said by pooling their resources and expertise, the two institutions will deliver enhanced visibility and market opportunities for skilled workers, making their craft accessible to wider audiences.
The MoU outlines specific measures such as consignment-based exchanges, allocation of showroom space for displays and implementation of strategic logistics and pricing measures. These steps would also help them minimise costs while maximising the reach and impact of the products on display.
APCO General Managers Nageswara Rao and Raja Rao, Chief Accounts Officer Parvathi and Assistant Director Benhar, Lepakshi Marketing Manager SVNJ Sridharacharyulu and Development Manager Venkatesam among others were present.
