Former World Cup winning Indian captain Kapil Dev urged fans not to put pressure on Arjun Tendulkar for his association with his father Sachin. Back in 2018, Arjun made his U19 debut in a first-class match against Sri Lanka, but did not play in the 2020 U19 World Cup in South Africa.

Thereafter, he played a few T20Is for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, after which he was selected to represent Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the bowling all-rounder is yet to make his debut in the cash-rich IPL.

Kapil Dev, one of India’s greatest all-rounders, believed that Arjun should be allowed to play with an open mind.

“Why is everyone talking about him? Because he is the son of Sachin Tendulkar. Let him play your cricket and don’t compare him with Sachin. There are pros and cons of naming Tendulkar. Don Bradman’s son has his own Changed the name because he couldn’t bear that kind of pressure. He dropped the Bradman surname because everyone expected him to turn out to be like his father,” Kapil said on Uncut.

“Don’t put pressure on Arjun. He is a little boy. When he has great Sachin as his father, who are we to tell him anything? But I would still like to tell him one thing that go and enjoy. Nothing Need to prove it too. If you can become 50 percent like your father, then nothing is better than this. When Tendulkar’s name comes up, our hopes go up because Sachin was so great.”

In two T20 matches, Arjun took two wickets at an economy rate of 9.57. Earlier, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that Arjun needs to work on some aspects of his game to make his debut for the five-time IPL champions.
