Mr Prasad appears to be on a relentless search while the convicts in other serious cases are nowhere close to facing the law. There are a lot of fugitives overseas and who have literally wiped out the bank. what happens to them?

Russia’s move
With Russia recognizing the rebel-held areas of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent republics, the “conflict” has taken a new turn. NATO’s response will be interesting. If it intervenes militarily, a full-fledged conflict could break out. Europe’s energy crisis could worsen if it imposes sanctions on Russia. And if nothing is done, it will signal a weak US, unable to check global growth.

clear win
It was a David-and-Goliath moment in chess (‘Sport’ page, “Pragnanandha scores spectacular victory over King Carlsen”, 22 February). This stupendous win will do a good deed for this world, which will help raise the confidence level of this fearless lad as well as other aspirants from India who dream of making it big in the world of chess. Hope his gentle shoulders are strong enough to carry on the shining legacy that Viswanathan Anand carried forward with gusto.

It was Viswanathan Anand who promoted Indian chess. Master Pragyanand will surely ensure more respect.

hearing today
So, the Pegasus petition will be heard today (inside pages, February 22). The public has been left wondering why Israeli military-grade software has been used to spy on civilians. Was it needed? We should be told why, if it was so important – and quickly.
