minority concerns

In an interview on Thursday (Inside Pages, “Obama says India ‘could fall apart'” on minority rights, June 23), former United States President Barack Obama expressed his concerns about minorities in India. has disclosed.

I believe that India is entering the third phase, as expressed in the work of Cameroonian philosopher, Achille Mbembe, On the Postcolony. He proposed three steps for post-colonial countries: peaceful coexistence between majorities and minorities, building a state on majoritarianism and extermination of minorities. Attacks on people accused of carrying beef, violation of rights in the name of lower class, demolition of mosques and other such incidents show how India is moving towards the final stage. In short, if people start fighting on religion and castes, it will ruin the peace and order of India.

India is a bastion of democracy where the rights of religious and ethnic minorities are well protected. A strong rebuttal from India may be appropriate.

short course

A short medical course is definitely a good idea to create a workforce of good primary care doctors (Opinion page, ‘Parle’, June 23). A version of this course with inputs from Ayurveda can also be considered. The carefully designed four year course with the best aspects of both Ayurveda and traditional medicine will be a game changer in the primary care system.

P. Sabanayagam

P. Sabanayagam was one of those civil servants who spoke little, wrote only what needed to be recorded, and made quiet but decisive action his motto. In his passing (Tamil Nadu, “Former TN chief secretary P. Sabanayagam passes away at 101”, June 23) governance has lost a stalwart remembered with gratitude for his fairness, firmness and meticulousness in administration Will be done.
