oscar wins

Oscar win is a happy news for India and Indian cinema. Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a new era for Indian cinema and will set benchmarks to reshape the landscape of filmmaking.

While I was happy to see The Elephant Whispers winning the Oscar, I was disappointed to see the song RRR win too. In my opinion, The Elephant Whispers is a remarkable film that beautifully highlights the strong bond between humans and animals. The film’s message was inspirational and highlighted the importance of treating animals with respect and kindness. The cinematography was top notch and the film deserved the recognition it got. On the other hand though ‘Nattu Nattu’ may be visually impressive, I believe a song should be judged on more than its visual effects. In my opinion, this song lacked the heart and soul that The Elephant Whispers had. I believe the Academy Awards should recognize things that make an impact and leave a lasting impression. The Elephant Whisperers did exactly that and I hope to see more movies like this in the future.

Gay marriage is an uphill battle. Keeping in mind the complex nature of Indian society, enabling it may lead to further discrimination on the basis of orientation, perhaps defeating the purpose of the 2018 judgment.

Manas Agarwal,

Brainstorming is needed by legal experts and lawmakers for the LGBTQ community to take a step forward by asking for same-sex marriage to be legalised. Why are marginalized communities not given representation in parliament and state assemblies under nominated quotas as a first step? His voice can be heard on sensitive issues.

The Centre’s view that same-sex union could shake centuries-old values is heartless and regressive (p. 1, March 13). Vivekananda’s sage advice on the direction in which India’s social reconstruction should be taken is worth remembering. Does the Center claim to understand Indian culture better than Vivekananda?

see on matches

Either India or Australia will be crowned champions of the World Test Championship after the Oval Test in June this year. But beyond the constraints of numbers and statistics, New Zealand have established themselves as the ultimate entertainers and masters of the close matches that make Test matches the most exciting, such as against England and also against rain-hit Sri Lanka. Day. Numbers and figures matter a lot in cricket but some are strangely silent on thrillers.
