Light rain lashed many parts of the city on Sunday, bringing down the maximum temperature to 17.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal. The India Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of cloudy sky and rain on Monday as well.
The capital’s official weather station, Safdarjung, recorded 3.3 mm of rain, while stations at Lodhi Road and Gurugram recorded 4.5 and 5 mm of rain, respectively.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 6.4 degree Celsius on Sunday. The capital has received negligible rainfall this year, whereas it usually receives around 18 mm of rain by this time.
Usually several western disturbances bring rain to the city in January, providing relief from cold wave conditions. For Monday, the IMD has forecasted the maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 20 and 10 degrees Celsius, respectively.
