Powering the new R8 V10 GT RWD is a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that now churns out a maximum power of 612 bhp making it the most powerful rear-wheel drive powertrain in the brand’s history. This also puts it in line with the R8 AWD’s power output, while the standard R8 rear-wheel drive has 562 horses.
The engine also has a peak torque rating of 565 Nm available between 6,400 – 7,000 rpm. Audi claims that the new R8 V10 GT RWD can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and accelerate to 200 km/h in 10.1 seconds. The top speed of the supercar is 320 km/h. The engine is mated to a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with changed gear ratios for better acceleration in all gears.
Audi has also managed to reduce the weight of the car by 20 kg compared to the standard R8 V10 RWD. There is a new torque rear mode which controls slippage on the rear axle. A total of 7 different levels of slippage are available, and the desired torque rear level can be adjusted by controls placed on the steering wheel.
