Preliminary investigation revealed that Prakash and Snehlata had met about three-and-a-half years ago in Mumbai where Prakash and Snehlata used to come regularly for photocopying work. Prakash was married and was living separately due to differences with his wife and the divorce case was also going on in the court.
However, Prakash and Snehlata started living together in Gautam Park Society and about a year ago their daughter was born.
Soon after the daughter’s birth, Snehlata became apprehensive about the child’s future and pressured Prakash to buy property in her name. Meanwhile, Prakash got Rs 45 lakh by selling his land in his native village. He bought a house in Mumbai in the name of Snehlata for 11 lakh rupees. Simultaneously, the house where he was staying was transferred to his name. But Snehlata wanted more property in her name, due to which there were frequent fights between the two, the police said.
Police said that Prakash was frustrated by Snehlata’s never-ending demands and decided to kill her.
