Around 70 students fell ill after consuming mid-day meal at a government school in Vadakehalla village in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district. The incident came to light on Monday when students complained of stomach pain and vomiting.

All of them were taken to nearby hospitals. The doctors treating the students have confirmed that the students are out of danger.

Speaking to NDTV, Chamarajanagar district’s deputy director of public instruction Manjunath SN said that a cook had discovered the lizard in the ‘sambar’ (lentil and vegetable soup) served to the students, and he immediately made the students eat food. Alerted to close. ,

The Public Education Department has called a meeting with the parents and the school administration. Action for negligence will be initiated based on the outcome of the meeting.

While schools in Bengaluru have been closed due to spiraling COVID cases, schools and colleges in other districts of Karnataka continue with physical classes.
