Thiruvananthapuram : Health Minister of Kerala Veena George Said on Saturday that the state government will not do complete lockdown yet.
The statement comes despite the state recording an alarming rise in Covid-19 cases in the past few days.
Health Minister cited the impact of complete lockdown on normal life and urged citizens to maintain it covid appropriate behavior,
He said, “The economic activities of our state and our people cannot be disrupted anymore. We should work together to avoid complete shutdown in the state. As of now we are not planning any lockdown. ”

After almost a month, the number of Covid-19 cases crossed 5,000 in Kerala yesterday. On Friday, 5,296 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the state and today the number has increased to 5,944.
Kovid-19 cases in Kerala
The state of Kerala recorded 5,944 new Covid-19 cases and 242 virus-related deaths on Saturday.
This took the total number of affected people in the state to 52,70,179 and the death toll to 49,547, a health bulletin said.
Of the deaths, 33 were recorded in the last few days and 209 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the Centre’s new guidelines and the Supreme Court’s directions.
Among the districts, Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of cases at 1,219 on Saturday, followed by Ernakulam at 1,214 and Kozhikode with 580 cases.
