Traffic disrupted on Bangalore-Mysore highway due to lake overflow
Residents of Bengaluru were inundated on the roads on Saturday morning as heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms lashed various parts of the city during the night.
Traffic on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway between Kengeri and Kumbalgodu was disrupted after the Kanmanike lake overflowed on Saturday morning. Traffic police officials said hundreds of commuters traveling between Mysore and Bengaluru were stuck in traffic for over four hours and now, civic agencies are clearing the waterlogged road. The newly constructed toll booth on Mysore Road Expressway also got submerged after the rain.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru city recorded 21.1 mm of rain, 30.4 mm at Bengaluru International Airport and 65.9 mm at HAL airport till 8.30 am on Saturday.

The IMD has predicted a moderately cloudy sky on Saturday. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely over Bengaluru and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 27 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively for the next 24 hours.

Bangalore has received so far 184.4 mm of rain in August, Meanwhile, barring the flooded roads in Shantinagar and Bilakahalli, the control room of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) did not receive several calls related to rain on Friday night and Saturday morning. Control room officials said that a tree fell from Ijipura and there was no damage due to rain in the city.
