Calligraphy is all about writing with your hand, albeit beautifully.
Meet Narayana Bhattathiri, a calligrapher from Thiruvananthapuram. He is familiar to Malayalam readers as the artist Bhattathiri.
Recently, he opened a gallery for Malayalam calligraphy called ‘Ka Chha Ta Tha Pa’. It has over 35 exhibits, including works both old and new.
Each artwork has its own visual language. The alphabet is mixed with lines from a Malayalam poem.
The use of colors makes it shine.
Every composition he created is only a first draft. He doesn’t go for any change.
The artist says that a viewer need not understand everything that is written. It’s meant to be seen.
