A video of a yellow colored snake that looks like a banana is going viral

Snakes are one of the deadliest and scariest reptiles on earth. However, their unique and wonderful abilities often make them fascinating creatures. They are also adept at disguising, and some have the special ability to confuse predators with their defensive and aggressive tactics. One such video of a yellow colored snake that looks like a fruit is going viral on Twitter, leaving social media users in awe.

A Twitter account named Science Girl shared the video and wrote, “The way this ball python looks like a banana. One can differentiate between the two. People can easily be fooled into believing that there are two bananas on the table. However, when a person picks up a python, the difference can be noted.

Watch the video here:

As its name implies, this unique snake species is called the Banana Ball Python, because the yellow and brown markings make it look like a ripe banana. The clip has so far garnered over 4.1 lakh views, over 19,000 retweets and 13,500 likes.

Needless to say, internet users were in awe of the video and were leaving various comments. One user wrote, “Imagine reaching for a banana and you get bitten by a snake.” Another commented, “Reaching out to a banana will never be the same again, thank you.” A third said, “It’s scary! Can you imagine grabbing a banana and getting that instead! Gives me the shivers. And I like most things but some god! Keep them away.” Yet another added, “Wow that’s so cool.”

Ball pythons are known for their defense strategy which involves wrapping themselves in a tight ball when threatened. Ball pythons, which live primarily in West and Central Africa, are one of the most popular pet choices for snake enthusiasts and breeders, according to National Geographic, because they are gentle, lazy and non-venomous. Their unique colors and patterns are the result of a co-dominant genetic expression.
