Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar in its official Twitter post said, “A Cyclonic Circulation is very likely to form over South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas around May 4. Under its influence, the same area during the next #24 hours.” A #Low Pressure Area is likely to form in This is likely to be more marked during the subsequent #24 hours.”
Strong wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over South Andaman Sea on May 05. Fishermen are advised not to venture into South Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on May 05.
Meanwhile, normal life remained affected in Odisha on Thursday as the mercury level in Boudh soared to the season’s high of 45 degrees Celsius and eight places recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius or more.
Official sources said that the IMD has issued a severe heat wave warning for the next three days. While Boudh became the hottest place in the state at 45 degrees Celsius, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Titlagarh and Subarnapur all recorded maximum temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius or more. Similarly, the IMD said, 13 places recorded a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius or more, while a total of 25 places in Odisha recorded 40 degrees Celsius or more. The Met Office said that all the districts of the western region recorded temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius, while the mercury level in coastal and interior Odisha ranged between 40 and 43 degrees Celsius. State capital Bhubaneswar and neighboring Cuttack recorded a temperature of 39.8 and 40 degrees Celsius, respectively.
However, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said that there is a possibility of a drop of two degrees in the temperature over the coastal region with possible thunderstorms in the first week of May. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going out between 11 am to 3 pm during the next three days. “Heat conditions are very likely at isolated places in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur districts till April 29 in 11 districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonpur, Boudh and Bolangir. Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir on April 30, 2022,” the IMD said in its warning.
