Lt Gen Gajendra Joshi has taken over as the new General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Strike 1 or 1 Corps, officials said on Tuesday.
“Lt. Gen. Gajendra Joshi took over as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Strike 1 from Lt Gen MK Katiyar on Monday,” said Shantanu Pratap Singh, PRO, Ministry of Defense in Lucknow.
He said that Lt Gen Joshi has vast experience in the Army.
In counter-insurgency operations, the GOC actively served as a battalion commander in South Kashmir as well as a sector commander in Manipur, PRO Defense said, adding that he also commanded a division in J&K.
Other prestigious positions held by Lt Gen Joshi are General Staff Officer Grade 1 (Operations) in Mountain Division, Colonel General Staff (Operations) at Corps Headquarters in High Altitude Area, Deputy Director General Military Operations and Military Intelligence at Army Headquarters. said.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Joshi asked all ranks to focus on operational preparedness to meet the upcoming security challenges.
