Earlier there were two tigresses in the tiger safari inside the Ludhiana zoo, Chirago and Ichran. on December 27, 2020 ichron died, following which the Ludhiana Zoo sought another tiger, specifically a male tiger, in the hope of breeding. The wait ended with the entry of the male tiger, Nav, on October 18, 2021. These are the two big cats in Safari at the moment.
An official of the Ludhiana Zoo said that the process of bringing the leopards to the Ludhiana zoo is on and the big cats will come here soon. “We have already constructed cages for them. We hope to get one male and one female leopard as this will also help in breeding. Coolers for leopards have already been brought.
Another official said, “Ludhiana zoo has had one or two tigers for a long time. The arrival of leopards will definitely attract more visitors as people will find something new to see and this will help in increasing the revenue. ,
The official also said that the zoo will get cafes and refurbished washrooms in the next few days. Established in 1993, Ludhiana Zoo is spread over an area of ​​25 acres. It has about 250 animals, including deer, sambar, Himalayan Bearbirds etc.
