Now, Global NCAP (along with Automobile Association of South Africa) has again crash tested the S-Presso, this time as a part of the #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Has managed to improve its Adult Occupant Protection rating to 3 stars, while Child Occupant Protection remains unchanged at 2 stars.
The S-Presso that has been tested is manufactured in India for the South African market. In South Africa the S-Presso is equipped with two airbags as standard. In contrast, the India-spec model continues to be offered with a driver side airbag as standard, with a front passenger airbag available with the top-end VXI+ variant.
Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas said, “The S-Presso’s safety performance in South Africa has not been satisfactory and claims of improvement are not reflected in the levels of child occupant protection that are similar to the Indian version we tested. . in 2020.”
