Panna’s radio collared male tiger ‘Hira’ was killed and skinned in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district. It was one of the two tiger siblings frequently seen in the Akola range of PTR and was popular among tourists as ‘Hira and Panna’. Heera’s mutilated body was found on Sunday night in Singhpur range, about 70 km from the Satna district headquarters. The area where the carcass was found is close to the PTR in the Vindhya landscape, where tigers are known to disperse. Senior officials of the forest department reached the spot after getting the information. While officials declined to comment, sources said it may have died due to the electric field fence and then deskined.
