Radhakrishnan KC, a chemistry lecturer at a government school in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, is helping more than two lakh government school students get recognized as ‘child scientists’ through various national level science competitions and Olympiads.
He first started working in 2012 for the training of school students of the state as child scientists. According to a report in the magazine, Radhakrishnan has trained more than two lakh students so far, of whom 10,000-12,000 have won prestigious science competitions and Olympiads and earned the title of child. He focused on getting more participation of the students of MP School in Inspire Awards and other National Level Science Project Competitions. The projects developed by these child scientists have been patented in their names so that they can get entrepreneurship opportunities in future.
After taking his regular classes at school, Radhakrishnan serves his services at the State Science Office in the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI). Earlier Radhakrishnan used to work in the office of the District Education Officer, he soon got a call from the DPI. Seeing his dedication, DPI appointed him as State Science Officer in 2017. But he continued to take classes at the Government Senior Secondary School in Anand Nagar, Bhopal.

Radhakrishnan has published 10 research papers on science, environment and education so far. He also included Indian medicinal plants in the syllabus of class 9 to 12 of the students of MP Board School.
Radhakrishna’s dedication soon started showing results, and three government school students were among the top 60 in the 2017 Inspire Awards Index. Innovation in Science Discovery (INSPIRE) scheme for Inspired Research by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India Awards to school children for innovation in science. Schools can nominate up to five best original ideas/innovations from students every year.
