14 girl students of a polytechnic college in Maharashtra’s Solapur district fell ill due to suspected food poisoning, police said on Wednesday. These girls belong to a hostel of Siddheshwar Mahila Polytechnic in Solapur city, located about 240 km from here. The affected students were admitted to the hospital and treated. On Tuesday, he started vomiting after having food in the hostel mess, police said.

“We asked other inmates of the hostel, who had complained that substandard food was being served in the mess, which could lead to food poisoning,” said an officer from Jodbhavi police station. The students’ statements have been recorded and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has collected food items samples from the mess, he said, adding that the health condition of 14 students is stable.
