New Delhi: Mahanagar Gas Limited has increased the retail price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) with effect from Wednesday midnight.

The natural gas distribution company tweeted, “MGL has announced the revised prices of CNG as Rs 57.54 per kg and PNG as Rs 33.93/scm (Standard Cubic Meter) in and around Mumbai with effect from midnight of October 13, 2021. “

This is the second increase in prices in the month of October.

MGL had on October 4 increased the retail prices of CNG and PNG by Rs 2 each.

“Considering the huge increase in the supply side cost, the company is constrained to increase the base price of CNG by Rs 20 per kg in and around Mumbai and Rs 2 per scm in domestic PNG,” the company said.

Noting that the price of re-gasified liquefied natural gas is also now at historic highs, MGL had stated that these combinations have resulted in a significant increase in the cost of procuring gas.

On 1 October, the government raised the price of domestically produced natural gas to $2.90 per metric million British thermal unit from farms and to $6.13 per mmBtu for gas produced from hard-to-reach areas such as the deep sea.

The rates of CNG and PNG were also increased in the national capital.

After the increase in prices, CNG now costs Rs 49.76 per kg in Delhi, while PNG is sold for Rs 35.11 per standard cubic meter (scm).
